Wolf’s Head and Vixen Morris are a Border Morris side. This is the most primitive and arguably the most exhilarating of the Morris dancing styles. It is traditionally distinguished by the tattered rag jackets, sticks and blackened faces of the dancers. Wolf’s Head (the men) and Vixen (the women) go one further by dressing all in black. We dance to a variety of traditional and original tunes, with a
Gothic feel and a mesmerising drumbeat.
WINNERS OF THE GREEN MAN SHIELD,
ROCHESTER SWEEPS FESTIVAL, 2012, 2013 AND 2014!
“The men’s team celebrate a very physical sense of masculinity, with dances that push them to the edge of endurance and injury, while the women’s team are ‘Feminine with a touch of menace’, graceful and
flowing in their movements, but also possessed of a great strength and power that’s all of their own. Wolf’s Head and Vixen are an
extraordinarily arresting side to watch, in their dress, in their
movements, and in their music.”
